Best Care of Good Health

Jawline in need of some definition? Kybella breaks down stubborn fat deposits in the neck area that cause the appearance of a double chin.
Submental fat or fullness, referred to many as a “double chin”, is a cosmetic problem that affects men and women of all weights and ages. Kybella is the only non-surgical FDA-approved treatment that destroys fat cells in the chin area to improve your profile.
Kybella contains deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule that helps break down and absorb dietary fat. When injected in the chin area, Kybella targets and destroys fat cells. Most patients need 2-4 treatments spaced more than 1 month apart to achieve desired results. Over time, the area looks slimmer and more defined. Once destroyed, the fat cells cannot return.
The Neurostrive medical team is proud to deliver our patients in Stuart, Port St. Lucie, Martin County, and South Florida the latest advancements in cosmetic injectable treatments for the best possible results. Contact us today to schedule a consultation for a personalized treatment plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

DNA Wellness was born from a vision to combine state-of-the-art wellness services with individualized care.
What is Kybella?

Kybella is an injected, prescription medicine that is approved by the FDA for fat reduction in the submental area. Kybella breaks down stubborn fat deposits in the neck area that cause the appearance of a double chin. While only indicated for injection under the chin, some patients have seen successful fat reduction after Kybella injections in the stomach, back rolls, and above the knees and elbows.

How does Kybella work?

Kybella’s active ingredient is a substance called deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule that helps break down and absorb dietary fat. When injected into the chin, it permanently destroys the fat cells. This causes the area to look noticeably slimmer in the weeks and months following treatment. Reducing fat under the chin also helps define the jawline and the transition between the chin and the neck, giving it a more elegant contour.

Who is a good candidate?

Ideal candidates for Kybella are individuals who have submental fullness, are 18 years of age or older, wish to avoid surgery or lengthy recovery, and are in good overall health. Our medical team at Big Sky Orthopaedics and Spine will evaluate your anatomy and determine if you are a good candidate for Kybella.

How long does one treatment take?

Each Kybella treatment takes 15-20 minutes, and it is admnistered in a series of small injections directly into the submental area.

How many treatments will I need?

Most people need 2-4 treatments spaced at least 1 month apart. Larger double chins require more treatments while smaller double chine require less. Up to 6 treatments may be performed.

How long do results last?

Once the desired result is achieved, results are permanent, as the fat cells have been destroyed. However, results may be affected by weight gain and natural aging.

Are there any side effects?

Though Kybella is non-surgical, some common side effects include pain, swelling, bruising, redness, and numbness, which should reside in 1-2 weeks. Rarely, more serious side effects can occur including nerve injury in the jaw and trouble swallowing.
